Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) has announced that the human papillomavirus (HPV) test will replace cytology as the primary test for cervical screening in spring 2025. LifeLabs will be the lab service provider.
Publicly funded HPV testing will result in changes to screening recommendations and pathways. For example, testing for low risk patients will be recommended every five years. Referral criteria to colposcopy will change. Here in our region, we will offer a webinar closer to launch date.
