Starting July ist:
- Lab will change from lifelabs to In-Common Laboratories (ICL)
- Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) is working with OntarioMD-certified electronic medical record (EMR) vendors to make FIT results available directly in your EMR. Because not all OntarioMD-certified EMR vendors will offer this functionality at launch, FIT results will be sent by fax in the interim. If EMR is your preferred reporting method, please indicate which EMR you are using by completing this form. Once you complete this form, ICL will switch your reporting method from fax to EMR once the feature is available. Further Information is on page 23 of this FAQ.
- The lab will now resend kits that are invalid or rejected without a new requisition as long as the prior requisition is still valid (6 months)
- The lab will send a reminder to the patient if the kit is not returned within 2 months
- There is a New requisition form
- The kit – New device from Alfresa has a screw top instead of snap to prevent leakage which has been a problem. Same collection method. You will receive a kit sample before the go live date
- Kits can now be dropped off at Rexall (helps with postal strikes)
- Eligibility for FIT
- Age 45 – 74
- Family History – no relatives with CRC or
- Only 1 first degree relative with CRC at age 60 or older, or
- One or more first degree relatives with colorectal polyps or
- One or more second degree relative
- Eligibility for Colonoscopy
- Starting at age 40 or 10 years prior to the age of the youngest relative diagnosed with
- ≥ 1st degree with CRC prior to age 60,
- ≥1st degree relatives diagnosed any age
- Starting at age 40 or 10 years prior to the age of the youngest relative diagnosed with
- Cessation for screening
- Between age 75 and 80 screening is optional. No screening is suggested after age 85. Kits requested over age 85 will be rejected.
